Mad World

Good World, the celebrated Orchard Street restaurant that was a BelDel pioneer, has closed to make way for condos, and the owners left behind some choice words for their former landlord: "Sadly, a greedy landlord who has never stepped in America, and doesn't speak a word of English bought this building, evicted the tenants in order to flip it. In place of a thriving business that brought life to this corner, he has left us with an empty hole." And so, we've entered the period of LES gentrification where businesses that helped kick-start the movement are now being priced out by landlords. Max Fish, look out! [Eater]
