Eater Tastings: Rise of the LES, Fall of Many Others

This week's top dish from Eater, Curbed's restaurant, bar, and nightlife blog...

1) Lower East Side: The latest chapter in the wacky history of the Hotel on Rivington is Levant East, "meaning the Lower / Rising of the East side, the growth of the Lower East Side." Hell Square, we'll always love you.

2) NYC: The final tally of April's shutterings is here, and it's a gruesome affair, friends. Pour out a little somethin' somethin' for Atria, Klatch, Pampa Grill (the Fishtank!), Town, sweet sweet Kobe Club and many more.

3) East Village: This week, the "Momofuku Bar" was revealed to be just a new cocktail menu at Ssam Bar, but all the hype was probably deserved because the Chang Gang is using laser-cut ice cubes. Is your mind blown yet?

4) "Somewhere Downtown": In haute pizza news that can only be filed under breaking, rumors are spreading that bread whisperer Jim Lahey is already planning a second location for Co., his Chelsea pizzeria that gained nstant legend status when it first fired up its oven a little while back.
