The 30 wasted acres (unless you enjoy a little rust) of Hunters Point South along the Long Island City waterfront were supposed to house an architecturally daring Olympic Village. When that didn't pan out, the city planned for a massive middle-income housing development. When that didn't fly because of the recession, the next pla?hey wait a minute, that one never went away! In fact, The Real Deal reports that all the land was just transferred to the city by the Port Authority and state-run Empire State Development Corporation. The property will probably just sit pretty for a while, but come 2109 we fully expect to be pedaling our hydrobikes through Newtown Creek and right up to the complex's cyborg-staffed valet.
