Bored with the perennially unsatisfying MTA Subway map? Frustrated by a slow-loading Google Map on your iPhone? Tired of staring at reprints of that 1976 New Yorker cover? Then check out "Here & There," a "horizonless projection" of Manhattan by graphic designers Schulze and Webb. The maps take advantage of Manhattan's extreme length relative to its width, and turn the street map into a three-dimensional projection. OK, so Here & There is not quite the best guide for getting around town, but it still feels indispensable. Hopefully the iPhone app is next.
Also, check out the crazy Midtown-to-Downtown view over on Daily Dose. Wheeeee!!!
