One pretty big hurdle that tripped up the grand Moynihan Station vision was the Dolans (owners of Cablevision, Madison Square Garden, Knicks, Rangers, etc.) refusal to get in on the deal and turn the western part of the Farley Post Office into a new arena, which makes this little news item very interesting: "Cablevision Systems Corp. says it recorded a profit in the first quarter, helped by growth in its core cable TV operations and the inclusion of revenue from the Long Island-based newspaper Newsday. The company will also consider spinning off the Madison Square Garden sports arena." [NYT]
