Look, Up in the Sky: Williamsburg's Fingering Begins Anew?

Four years ago the original Finger Building stormed onto the scene, and in the time since, the building has seen more stops and starts than a Williamsburg band's first rehearsal. The Robert Scarano-designed apartment building at 144 N. 8th Street, so loathed for its desire to climb over its low-rise neighbors to the tune of 16 stories, finally got the blessing of the Board of Standards & Appeals in late '08. Legal issues cast aside, there was soon some fresh activity at the site, but that quickly sputtered out. Now, a tipster tells us the moment we've been waiting for has finally come:

Looks like I'm going to have a long summer of noisy construction workers waking me up every morning. Workers started hauling equipment onto the 8th St. side of the Finger building in Williamsburg. I can't imagine how they can make the building habitable after it has spent two whole winters without walls.
