Cool Off in the Dov Charney McCarren Park Pool!

New, 1 comment

How much is a hipster-targeting brand willing to spend to slap its name on the McCarren Park Pool, sure to be filled with scantily-clad trendsetters once its renovation is completed in 2011? Around $3 million, the Parks Department hopes. The Post reports that the city is looking to raise revenue by selling the naming rights to some park facilities, including McCarren Pool, the Central Park Tennis Center ($5 million), the pool at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park ($3 million), the ball fields at DeWitt-Clinton Park ($2 million) and more. Because advertising is frowned upon in parks, sponsors can only expect to have their names and logos put on a plaque?and philanthropists are the ones truly being sought out. But the Parks Department admits there's room for negotiation, and the Red Bull Central Park Extreme Tennis Explosion to the Max just has a certain ring to it, don't you think?
