The Monday deadline (pushed from the Thursday deadline) for the Port Authority and developer Larry Silverstein to strike a deal over the World Trade Center's planned Towers 2 and 3 passed with no agreement in place, the Times reports. The two sides "continue to snipe at each other's proposals," with Silverstein wanting to build the skyscrapers with Port Authority financial backing now, and the Port Authority not willing to finance speculative office space. Updating our scorecoards, it looks like the governors of NY and NJ are on Team Port Authority, while Bloomberg and Sheldon Silver roll with Leisure Suit Larry. [NYT; previously]
