While parts of Long Island City wrestle with putting some distance between a seedy past and a family-friendly future, over on the Hunters Points waterfront, all is warm and sunny and joyous and decidedly G-rated. The slow northward expansion of Gantry Plaza State Park up to the EastCoast towers in Queens West (yeah yeah, nickname overload) was looking snazzy earlier this spring, and now a tipster sends in some fresh photos clearly not taken in today's downpour that look fairly spectacular. We're hearing this part of the park will open around July 1. Any LICers out there picking up some more specific info?
