One year ago the Port Authority was told to get to the bottom of this World Trade Center rebuilding thing, and the agency responded with a top-to-bottom reassessment of the WTC's problems, progress and timeline. Now, with the Port Authority locked in a stalemate with developer Larry Silverstein and some political leaders (including Mayor Bloomberg) over whether or not to build Norman Foster's Tower 2 and fellow British starchitect Richard Rogers's Tower 3 right now or wait a couple decades, the PA has issued a press release touting all the WTC construction milestones hit in the past year. And on the PA's World Trade Center website there's a corresponding photo gallery comparing various sites with how they looked one year ago. The purpose is to update the public, but the timing sends a clear message: Larry, baby, who's the boss?
