Williamsburg is Poor (& Not By Choice!)

New, 3 comments

Now that the knock on Williamsburg being populated by armies of mommy-and-daddy-supported trustafarians has made it mainstream (Times coverage!), Mikki Halpin attempts to tear down the stereotype. For Daily Intel, Halpin uses census data and other means to chronicle a litany of economic and social woes in the neighborhood, and concludes: "The reality of Williamsburg, beyond the mythical trust-funders, is that it is a community of people mostly struggling to get by, with a few wealthy residents grabbing headlines — the way New York has always been."
