The Local reports that the contractor working on 493 Myrtle Avenue in Clinton Hill before the four-story building collapsed last weekend did not have the permits necessary to do the type of heavy-duty work the building was undergoing pre-collapse. The Times' Fort Green/Clinton Hill blog went to the Chinatown address listed for M & R Construction Brooklyn Inc. to get a comment (it turned out to be the general contractor's residence), but no one feels like talking. The DOB is investigating the cause of the collapse. [The Local; previously]
