CurbedWire: Midtown Shows its Age, Tubby Time in Tribeca

MIDTOWN?Perhaps a bit of history dug up on the south side of Bryant Park? A tipster sends in the above photos and writes, "Workers have torn up the sidewalk in front of 28 West 40th Street and they have uncovered the remains of a very old brick wall and window or door archway that looks very interesting to my naive eye. Perhaps it is a significant discovery? Or perhaps it is nothing. You are the experts." Indeed, as the nation's foremost experts on very old brick walls, we say this is...a Stargate? Close-up after the jizzump. [CurbedWire Inbox]

TRIBECA?A tipster wrote in to let us know that workers were spotted carrying boxes in and out of the fancypants sales office for Herzog and de Meuron's stalled 56 Leonard Street project, but according to a source the space is not shutting down. In fact, a permanent sink and bathtub (the previous ones were temporary) were being added to the bathroom model, and a steel gate is being installed. [CurbedWire Inbox]
