That's Rather Fraudulous: A Peek Inside Madoff's Penthouse

New, 4 comments

Putting a price on Bernie Madoff's Upper East Side penthouse just got a bit more interesting: Now there are visual aids! The Daily News mysteriously produces a pair of photos from inside the Madoff lair at 133 East 64th Street today (click through for a bedroom shot), on the heels of the Ponzi schemer's 150-year prison sentence and word that the four-bedroom spread will be sold. We'll assume furnishings won't be included in any deal?let's just say there are a few people out there who can probably can stake a claim to the art and antiques?but still, what are we looking at?

Here's the Daily News' description of the home:

The living room features two plush couches, antique lamps and a valuable Impressionist painting. The master bedroom was designed around Georgian antiques. It features a canopied bed, fireplace and a burlwood tall chest topped with Chinese porcelains dating back to the late 1700s.

The large kitchen is decked out with fine china and silver serving sets.

Other décor details: a $35,000 Lavar Kerman Persian carpet and a $20,000 Chippendale-style tea table. This'll make one hell of a tag sale.
