The Civic Center Residents Coalition blog reports that the Department of Transportation has decided to delay the beginning of the controversial Chatham Square reconstruction plan in Chinatown for one year. Work was supposed to kick off in July. The Villager has a good summary on why many in the community loath the project, which would realign the confusing intersection south of the Manhattan Bridge but also isolate Park Row (closed since 9/11) for perhaps all eternity.
