Yesterday's Landmarks Preservation Commission discussion on the Upper West Side's sandstone West-Park Presbyterian Church featured some lively testimony, the Post reports. Preservationists fear cash-strapped church officials will demolish part or all of the 116-year-old structure to make way for new real estate development. The church's pastor told the LPC, "There is a sense that people in our community somehow care more for our building than we do." We hear the West-Park testimony lasted four hours, with 57 people testifying in favor of landmarking and 12 opposed. [NYP; previously]
