Brooklyn Hippies Can't Catch a Break

New, 1 comment

The Brooklyn co-housing experiment is on the verge of collapse for a second time. After losing out on the old Fort Greene church initially targeted for conversion to co-ops with large communal spaces and good neighborly vibes, the group has had a tough go of getting financing for its desired new location, a South Slope warehouse. They need more members to sign up and plunk down 5% deposits toward the down payment on the $5.5 million warehouse ASAP. [NYT]
