Here's a shocking visual: 5Pointz, the Long Island City art studios building that became the neighborhood's graffiti Mecca, is getting a fresh paint job. According to liQcity, the new yellow look is part of the necessary renovations following the stairwell collapse that led to a vacate order on the building. Did 7-train rides out to Mets games just get a lot less stimulating? Nope! Writes liQcity: "There are some new pieces all over the building, especially where the stairwell collapsed, and every evening the artists are there, diligently trying to keep up with the yellow paint machines." You can't keep a good vandal down!
5Pointz is part of the Crane Street Studios complex, and according to the CSC website, there's an art sale/fundraiser in Chelsea tonight for the woman seriously injured in the stairwell collapse.
