Eater Tastings: Tavern on the Green Going Under the Knife

This week's top dish from Eater, Curbed's restaurant, bar, and nightlife blog...

1) Central Park: The Parks Department has ended the sweepstakes for Tavern on the Green, and they've booted the LeRoy family (after 33 years!) in favor of Central Park Boathouse operator Dean Poll. Poll is planning a big-time capital investment/renovation of the spectacularly weird and beautiful tourist trap.

2) Williamsburg, Central Village: A bad week for trailblazers. Decade-old Williamsburg pioneer Planet Thailand shuttered, and so did Elettaria, which (unsuccessfully?) attempted to usher 8th Street into a post-Shoe District era.

3) LES: Join Robert Simonson for a beer at 169 Bar, the Lower East Side/Chinatown dive that's just rugged enough where you might see a hipster get punched in the face.
