Every inch of every NYC building has value, of course, but how does one put a price on, say, a Riverside Drive co-op's old ventilation shaft? Restaurateur and Elliman broker Paul Zweben had to buy a 24-square-foot section of the shaft (it's technically common space) to combine his two apartments, and the board charged him $8,000, "or about $330 a square foot -- not a bad price, Zweben notes, for the Upper West Side."
