Crosby Street Hotel Gets Pretty, Goes Online

New, 5 comments

It looks like the winner of the race for Soho's newest hotel won't be the troubled Trump, Grand Street's fortress of plazatude or the Mondrian menace but rather the Crosby Street Hotel rising near Prince Street. This first U.S. entry from London's Firmdale Hotels group has gone online, announcing a September 29 opening and touting the 86 guest rooms, pewter bar, 100-seat screening room and leafy courtyard garden. The owners of the Crosby have enlisted artists from far and wide to create works for display on-site. A sunken cafe facing Lafayette Street will be fronted by a hand-forged iron fence and gates created by local sculptor James Garvey. No doubt guests and neighbors alike will be very glad when this one gets off the ground.
