Deutsche Bags

The doomed Deutsche Bank Building, whose demolition may or may not be completed in the lifetimes of our children and their direct descendants, has been allocated enough money for work to continue sometime through late fall. (Of course, for work to continue, it again has to start; after Labor Day, perhaps?) Meantime, the Downtown Express has a nice rundown on where the money's going: lawyers! "At a meeting Tuesday, the L.M.D.C. board approved an additional $130,000 for photocopying and document management, bringing the total for that purpose to $850,000. The board also approved a $700,000 increase to a contract with the law firm Dechert L.L.P., bringing Dechert’s compensation to a total of $8 million." [Downtown Express]
