Rent Wars: It's Game Day for the Stuy Town Super Bowl!

New, 3 comments

The NFL season kicks off tonight, but the Super Bowl is already here for residents of Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village, and they're ready to party! Oral arguments begin today in the appeal that threatens to return 4,400 Stuy Town/Peter Cooper apartments back to the warm embrace of rent regulation, a devastating prospect for hurting landlord Tishman Speyer. The arguments will be broadcast live over the Internet (N.B., this will be the most boring webcast ever accessed by clicking on a button that includes the words "watch oral live"), but for those who haven't yet hit the on-ramp to the Information Superhighway, the Stuy Town Tenants Association is inviting all comers down to the Stein Senior Center at 340 East 24th Street to watch the arguments with fellow fans. And yes, "light refreshments will be served." Kick-off is set for 2:30 p.m. Curbed reminds you to please drink responsibly.
