"Despite it being a prison, it still retains a bit of it's original art deco charm. Go to the Manhattan Detention Complex and you get a far less inviting building that towers over most of it's neighbors in Chinatown. I've been inside of it to visit, and I can tell you that it's not fun or appealing visually, but then again, it's a jail. As for the lady lockup here, it's akin to any little bodega or other corner shop. It brings some lively character to a neighborhood. My greatest fear is that the prison itself will be converted into condos with the way things are going."?Blayze O'Brien [Construction Watch: West Chelsea Penthouse Taunts Inmates]
