Architect Thom Mayne's brand spankin' new academic building for Cooper Union is one of the most talked about new buildings to hit downtown NYC in years, and love it or hate it, this will be the collection of photos that cements that opinion. We've crashed the building a couple times in its earlier stages, but Trevor Patt's Flickr set is our first glimpse inside Mayne's steely mesh mindfuck since it opened its doors to students. It's safe to say the Bowery hasn't ever seen anything like this that wasn't a hallucination preceded by a week-long MD 20/20 bender. Absolutely epic.
