Coney Island's disastrous summer of zoning feuds, protests, insults, aborted amusement parks, puppy-harassing freak shows and crummy weather has ended on a positive note. Divers have discovered a 500-pound brass bell (now green) that used to reside in the old Dreamland Park, before a fire in 1911 sank its pier to the ocean floor. They plan to drag it to shore and eventually put it back on display. [NYP]
