For months the CurbedWire Inbox has been burning up with speculation on the state of 200 Eleventh Avenue, aka The One With The Sky Garage. This chatter was by no means silenced by our recent construction update on architect Annabelle Selldorf's wavy steel tower, but this week New York magazine churns out another edition of its Vu. real estate package, and a slideshow on "Starchitecture After the Bust" has quite the 1-2 punch: A pair of photos from inside 200 Eleventh, including the epic $17.5 million duplex penthouse (above). The same penthouse said to have been purchased after a fierce bidding war by fashion icon Domenico Dolce? Well, that unit is still listed as "in contract," but let's not get lost in the details and lose sight of the main topic here: Holy West Side Highway, check out that room!
The double-height thing continues down below. The other New York photo reveals a finished and furnished space lower in the building. UPDATE: Oh crapola, this an old (realistic!) rendering. Curse you, misleading photo credits. We will now go hang ourselves in shame.
Whether or not 200 Eleventh will be living La Dolce Vita, it's still looking pretty sweet. Agree? Or is a life spent staring out to New Jersey just too much for some to handle?
