UES?The Second Avenue Subway, Great Destroyer of the Upper East Side, has brought its Sherman's March into the streets in the 80s. By the looks of this photo, the biggest loser in all this could be glassy new luxury condo building Georgica. A long way from the Hamptons now, eh Georgy boy? [CurbedWire Inbox]
LES?The Port Authority won't have Pier 42 to kick around anymore! Not after some politicians got together and put the kibosh on the PA using the East River pier (near the end of Montgomery Street) as a staging area for World Trade Center construction. Per a press release from State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and State Senator Daniel Squadron: "Balancing community concerns and a desire to proceed quickly with construction, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will implement a 'day-of' delivery procedure made possible by a new procurement process, which alleviates the need to use Pier 42." There were going to be an estimated 60 truck trips daily through the 'hood, which some people like to call Two Bridges. [CurbedWire Inbox]
