The plan to turn a popular old Battery Park City playground into a popular new Battery Park City playground is still drawing all sorts of late-breaking opposition. The West Thames Park plan is part of the reconstruction of West Street that also includes SHoP's new pedestrian bridge. Some think the project will be endlessly delayed, leaving them without a playground, but they're probably all just Democrats: "Much of the design of the park hinges on the so-called 'Pataki Promenade,' a pedestrian walkway and bicycle lane running along the west side of the highway from Battery Park all the way to the World Trade Center site."
