While the number of contracts signed is indeed up, developers still have to get the ol' Johnny Hancocks on the paperwork, and so the freebie train continues its wild ride! Today we have a pair of new developments, both being sold by our friends at Elliman, offering up some incentives to buyers:
1) 50 Franklin: The 18-story not-quite-Tribeca-but-who's-counting-anyway condo building is opting for the limited time only! technique, perhaps looking to hit a certain mortgage-friendly sales percentage. According to the listings, "Next 10 buyers to sign a contract receive ENTIRE APARTMENT designed and furnished by BoConcept FREE!!!" That's 196 pages of pure inspiration to choose from!
2) 838 Metropolitan: In Brooklyn Heights, it's an Audi. In Prospect Heights, it's a Prius. In East Williamsburg, the free vehicle offer is but a lowly Vespa. To be fair, the 8-unit building is priced under $500/sf, and the scruffy hipster accessory used to be dangled in front of some pricier real estate.
