Chumley's Yay, Chelsea Bakery Nay

It is a day of both joy and sadness for lovers of old-school Manhattan establishments. Over in the West Village, Eater brings word that the artist formerly known as Chumley's is on Community Board 2's slate of liquor license applicants, hinting that the speakeasy may finally reopen soon. UPDATE: Never mind. Meanwhile in Chelsea, Vanishing New York reports that a new location of the Sullivan Street Bakery is forcing out 47-year-old bakery Les Desirs Patisserie, and the seniors that frequent the place are devastated. A petition is circling. [Eater; VNY]
