Architecture Porn: FiDi's Fantasy Tower and Other Oddities

New, 23 comments

Those paying close attention would have noticed that yesterday's reveal of the very cool Greenwich South design study (fantasizing about the makeover of the 23-block area just south of the World Trade Center) included a mention of Morphosis's Thom Mayne as one of the architects contributing to the project. Thom Mayne, as we all know, is pretty much a nutjob, but we couldn't really detect his influence on that first batch of Greenwich South renderings. Well, the kind folks at Architecture Research Office (which captained the team of architects) sent along a few more renderings from the study. One tower, teased above, particularly looks like Mayne got his hands on it. Check out the full reveal in the gallery, but remember that children under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

UPDATE: A Curbed commenter fills in the blanks on who did what. "That tower design in the first two images is by IwamotoScott. The third image is the Morphosis/Mayne design, the fourth is ARO and the last is WorkAC."
