Tribeca's Hipster Clubhouse

When last we left the lusciously restored cast-iron Tribeca building at 172 Duane Street, the owner's attempt to add a four-story addition to the top was being shot down. The building has taken some interesting turns since, the Observer reports. It is now being rented by fallen hip hop impresario Damon Dash, who has turned it into some sort of modern-day Warhol Factory filled with underemployed and overpartying hipsters. The building is going by the name DD172, and Dash has a "creative deal" worked out with the landlord, which might correspond with the huge pot cloud currently hanging over Tribeca. [NYO]
