Gothamist sits down with architectural photographer John Bartelstone for a chat, and the particularly cool part is the gallery of Bartelstone's old photos of the Brooklyn Navy Yard. His other favorite old places: "It's tough to rank these things but The Navy Yard is still at the top of my list of most wonderful places in New York. It would be followed by the Todd Shipyard that was totally destroyed by Ikea a few years ago. Then I'd have to put the old Phelps-Dodge copper plant on New Town Creek as another of my favorite sites in the city. It's been gone for about ten years and it was definitely worth being arrested to get some shots of it." [Gothamist]
