Disney Heads for Times Square, 52 East 4th Flea Goes Upscale

New, 2 comments

And now, the latest from Racked, covering shopping and retail from the sidewalks up.

1) Midtown West: Having high-tailed it out of its Fifth Avenue space, Disney will be moving into part of the Virgin Megastore space on Broadway between 45th and 46th streets, next to Forever 21. Cast your vote for which retailer will move into the empty Fifth Avenue slot here.

2) East Village: At Curbed obsession Scarano-on-the-Bowery, a.k.a. 52 East 4th Street, the new flea market isn't just a flea market any more. It's the upscaled Boutiques on the Bowery, "an assembly of 36 hip new designer and artisans" plus Brazilian coffee shop. Same difference?

3) Midtown East: Scaffolding has surrounded the Sean John store at 41st Street and Fifth Avenue since 2006, and Diddy just can't take it any longer. Now he's suing his landlord, asking $2.5 million in damages and alleging that the scaffolding has led to a 50 percent sales drop at the store. What? We certainly can't think of any other reasons why sales would have dropped 50 percent since '06.
