Tower 111, With a New Name, About to Start Leasing

New, 5 comments

Midtown Costas Kondylis creation Tower 111 has quite the on-again, off-again history, and after a long fallow period, it's apparently on again. The Times reports that the building's got a fresh name, the Continental, and will soon start leasing its 338 rental apartments. The area's not exactly known as a residential 'hood, but the developer is hoping the Continental's swimming pool and Empire State Building views will do the trick. Of course, what we really want to know is whether the building will be dressing up for Halloween this year.

Nearby 855 Sixth Avenue has not been so lucky. The lot for what was to be a residential development is still vacant, and the mortgage just changed hands. The new loan-holder hopes to take control of the site. Maybe the Continental can finish leasing by the time the foundation is getting poured?
