HotelChatter brings word about some big changes underway at 345 West 35th Street, a 14-story oldie near Penn Station that was floated as a possible hotel conversion. That's precisely what's happening! In 2011, the building will open as the TRYP New York City - Times Square South (catchy!), the first North American property for the brand that started as a mid-priced European hotel chain (it was acquired by Wyndham Hotels last summer). The 173-room hotel will be "infused with Mediterranean elements," so we're guessing it's going to look pretty different from nearby old-school icon the New Yorker hotel.
