This week's top dish from Eater NY, Curbed's restaurant, bar, and nightlife blog...
1) West Chelsea: The Highliner, the new restaurant planned for the Empire Diner space on Tenth Avenue, did not open in September as planned, and construction on the space seems to have stopped weeks ago. The latest projection is November. It's landmarked, so it can't join the Cheyenne in skipping town before then.
2) Greenwich Village: Popular Vegas Thai restaurant Lotus of Siam is coming to the old Cru space on Fifth Avenue in the first week of November. The menu will weigh in at around 50 dishes?about a third the size of the restaurant's menu in Vegas.
3) NYC: Reality food competition show MasterChef will be casting in New York in mid-November.
4) Gramercy: Creepy story: a guy traveling to New York tweeted about his Burger King airport meal and his plans to dine at Eleven Madison Park, and when he arrived at EMP the next day, the waiter presented him with mini lamb burgers in response to his tweets. We can't keep up with this crazy technology!
