Villager Wants Some Kind of Campaign Against Marc Jacobs

New, 25 comments

The growing Marc Jacobs empire in Greenwich Village has its fans, but they don't include Abingdon Square resident Gary Stern, who is on a mission to stop Jacobs' expansion...somehow. He's brought Mike Joyce, creator of the "More Jane Jacobs, Less Marc Jacobs" t-shirts out of hiding, and his recent brainstorms include asking Community Board 2 to implement restrictions on how fancy Bleecker Street can become. (CB 2's answer has been no so far.) Stern tells The Villager he misses the candy store and bodega of his neighborhood in the 1980s. Hey, local landlords, maybe some options to consider for those empty storefronts?
