Pace is Picking Up at 23rd Street's Tempo

New, 4 comments

The Tempo condo on the corner of 23rd Street and Second Avenue might be a bit behind schedule, but when the developers start feuding, you know things are going to take a while. Problems and unfortunate market timing aside (the sales office had a $500,000 hologram!), this former Development Du Jour, a 19-story, 98-unit building designed by Kutnicki Bernstein Architects, has a revised December completion estimate that looks somewhat attainable. We dropped by for a visit to check up on this under-the-radar Gramurray guy.

The lobby is still a construction zone, as is most of the building. Hallways and stairwells remain starkly unfinished and the many amenities, like Cine Tempo (the garden/screening area), Tempo Fitness and Up Tempo (a 2,600-square-foot rooftop entertainment lounge with panoramic views, private putting green, and gourmet grill) are also raw. Prices haven't come down much from the start of construction?they range from the mid-$800s to just under $3 million—and reps tell us just over 15% of the building is sold.
