Tribeca Park Renamed; High Line Viewing Spur!!!!!

New, 2 comments

WEST CHELSEA?Holy hell, people, are you ready for the most mindboggling High Line Part Deux construction update yet? Right now?as in, right now?the Viewing Spur is being installed at 26th Street and Tenth Avenue. This according to the latest Friends of the High Line newsletter, which points out that the billboard-inspired Spur "will be surrounded by shrubs and trees, such as Flameleaf sumacs (Rhus copallina), sassafras (Sassafras albidum), and Greenbay magnolias (Magnolia virginiana 'Greenbay')." Yep, they're stoned again at FHL HQ. [CurbedWire Inbox]

TRIBECA?Just when we got used to calling the new pocket park (with a waterfall!) at the intersection of Canal, Varick and Laight Streets by its birth name, CaVaLa Park, the darn name gets changed! Following up the promise to rename the park for late neighborhood activist and restaurateur Albert Capsuoto, today the Parks Department officially did just that. CaVaLa, we hardly knew ya.
