The state is getting involved in elderly West Village landlord William Cornwell's allegations that he was scammed into renting two apartments for cheap to a Citi Habitats broker and his father. The Journal reports that a state investigator has been assigned to the case and could end up imposing a fine, revoking the broker's license, or ordering that Cornwell be paid restitution. Guess that ficus thank you just wasn't enough. [WSJ]
