The Times has yet another story about how Second Avenue subway construction is murdering business on the Upper East Side, pointing out that 31 shops have closed between 63rd and 96th Streets. Merchants now say the MTA undersold how disruptive the construction would be, but officials deny that. Even stalwarts like Yorkville's Schaller & Weber are feeling the pinch, because folks from the 'burbs can't double-park to pick up their bratwurst on the quick. Hey MTA: History teaches us it's probably a bad idea to piss off the Germans. [NYT]
