Does Manhattanville Really Exist?; Chelsea Townhouse in the Making

MANHATTANVILLE??A Curbed Photo Pool contributor filed the above artsy shot of Columbia's ongoing demolition of the West Harlem section of Manhattanville. Meanwhile, the Observer wonders about the nabe's name: "Others contend the area is simply an extension of Harlem (to which the recently opened West Harlem Piers Park adds some municipal clout). Meanwhile, real estate developers have been assiduously dropping ViVa (that's Viaduct Valley, for the Riverside Drive viaduct) into their listings." Viva ViVa? [Curbed Photo Pool/NYO]

CHELSEA?A tipster alerts us to an interesting building sale at 328 West 23rd Street. According to the old listing, it's a vacant five-story walk-up building in need of a gut renovation. The ask was $4.95 million, and it (along with air rights) sold for $3.96 million. It sold to a couple, so we're thinking this is on the way to becoming a big single-family Chelsea townhouse.
