Soros Son Picks Up Novogratz Basketball Dome for $12 Million

It took some serious airtime, but the sale of the Novogratz clan's townhouse at 5 Centre Market Place has finally closed. After cutting the price from 2008's original $18 million to the most recent $12.95 million, the PriceChopper is probably glad to move on to something new. But not without one last visit: the Observer reports that the house's final sale price was $11,999,900. According to public records, la famille Novogratz paid only $1.512 million for the house in 2004 (before sinking more into the renovation). The buyer is Gregory Soros, son of George Soros. We're assuming our invitation to hoops on the roof is in the mail.
