Skyscrapers stand over 33 West 63rd Street "like bullies ganging up an old lady." Yeesh! What's the deal? The 26-apartment building went up in 1890 and is now a rare neighborhood holdout amid luxury condos. One Lincoln Plaza was built around the complex in the early 1970s, and as other nearby tenements were torn down to make way for it, some of 33 West 63rd's interior walls became exterior walls, leaving some tenants with ice in their living rooms. Somehow, they want to stick around anyway. [NYT]
