Vacant Brooklyn Heights Lot Wants Landmarks Pass for Glass

New, 3 comments

Thanks to the recent sale of a vacant lot at 27 Cranberry Street (for $1.5 million), we're about to see something we don't see very often: the creation of a 25-foot-wide single-family townhouse in Brooklyn Heights from the ground up. The Brooklyn Eagle noticed that the design for the property?purchased by developer Louis Greco of SDS?recently went before Community Board 2's Land Use Committee. We're not surprised to see a "mostly glass facade and stoop" in the plans for a house from the developer of On Prospect Park and The Dillon. Nor are we shocked that the Brooklyn Heights Association wanted a little less glass. But there are a few unusual features in the design, from Architect of the Year Martin Santini. For example, underneath the townhouse will be a pool and underground squash court. The design still needs Landmarks Preservation Commission approval. Anyone seen renderings?
