Developer Planning Penthouse Auction to Finish West 43 Sales

New, 2 comments

Architect Adam Kushner didn't just turn a Barrow Street penthouse into the subway. He also designed 552 West 43rd Street, an eight-unit building called West 43 that launched sales in the spring of 2008. The building's two penthouses are the only units left, and the developer is ready to be done with the thing. Which means, of course, that it's auction time! The two penthouses, originally listed for $2.2 million, are now on the block, broker-blogger Malcolm Carter notes, with a starting price of $1.1 million and sealed bids due by December 8. (The price cut isn't out of line for the building, where discounts at closing have gone as high as 32.6 percent.) Same price, different units: PHA is a 1BR duplex with a terrace and home office. PHB is a two-bedroom duplex with home office, terrace, and "287-square-foot private indoor lap pool room." Way to make PHA look bad!
