Corporate America Wants Williamsburg to Get Cancer and Die

New, 3 comments

Williamsburg? Cool. Smoking? The coolest. And what happens when you put the two together? You get the special-edition "Williamsburg" pack of Camel cigarettes. As if the neighborhood didn't already have enough cancer-causing elements to worry about! The Brooklyn Paper brings this fascinating bit of marketing to our attention, and it's part of the brand's "Camel Break Free" campaign, with cigarette boxes redesigned to reach hipster 'hoods in Seattle, Austin and other cities. The Paper also braved the registration process on the Camel website to uncover amazing jargon like, "It's about last call, a sloppy kiss goodbye and a solo saunter to a rock show in an abandoned building." And remember, kids, the surgeon general warns that smoking can cause "serious street cred."
