Weeping Willows

Another Friday, another East Village microcontroversy. We journey over to 613-617 East 11th Street, where condo owners are talking about removing the 60-foot willow tree from their backyard because they don't want to pay for pruning it or have to clean up the leaves. The tree (and another that's already gone) was planted by a building squatter who agreed to leave on the condition that her willows remain. Takes NIMBYism to a whole new level! [EVG]
